Self care and paintings
There's been a lot of painting going on recently and a lot of self care.
This has meant no blogging during August. An unplanned blogging break, but the self care has been entirely necessary and a break from computers where possible was a part of this. I'm lucky enough to be self employed and can set my own hours and schedule me time when I need it - for this I'm very grateful and feel very blessed to be where I am right now.
Other self care principles for me are:
taking walks with my beloved (or on my own)
being outside in my garden
being by the sea (as much as possible - given that I don't actually live by the sea)
making time to spend with kindred spirits for meditation and healing (or just to chat and yes, I often chat to this lovely furry kindred)
self healing using Angelic Reiki (every day)
and, of course, art every day
What does your self care look like?
Do you take time out every day for yourself?
I'd love to hear from you... please leave your comments below...
From my grateful heart to yours

My self care is very similar to yours Rachel (not really surprised!); nature walks, time by the sea whenever possible (I'm incredibly drawn to the sea and would love to live on the coast one day), meditation, drumming and reiki self healing :)
Yes. Lots of time off the computer for me, too. Lots of nature walks. Exercising (most recently running, but sometimes hula hooping, yoga or tai chi - all at beginner levels!) Sesame oil massage. Water. Good veggie food. Loving with the hubster. Absorbing as much sunlight as I can! And then there's arting and writing. Probably my biggest hurdle to self care is my inner critic, always urging me to do more! I'm quite good at disobeying her, these days ;) xo
Yes, Nicola - I would love to live by the sea - need to get manifesting!!
Oh, Julie - good for you with your running - my arthritic knees don't let me run any more but I used to love it. I'm getting better at ignoring that 'must do' voice too - yay for us!!
So glad you took some down time to rest and recharge, Rachel. We SO need that quiet ME time and away from the technology. My methods are similar to yours: walking in the woods, petting my four-leggeds, enjoying nature. As my body is still healing/recovering, I'm slowly getting back to working out (I know, it doesn't sound gentle or indulgent at all, but I do love it). Reading, watching a Jane Austen film, drinking chamomile tea, writing, daydreaming, taking a nap...all good ways for me to get away from the crazy stuff :) I so hope you enjoyed your quiet self-care time and feel energized on the other side of it <3
I do many of the same things as you. I am fortunate that I do live near the Gulf of Mexico and try to walk on the beach at least once a week. It always makes me feel better. But, if not there, then walking around my neighborhood works, too. Kitty love, husband love, books, art, friends and a nice cup of tea - are all important ways I take care of my self.
Sounds like some wonderful practices Rachel. Good for you for taking such good care of yourself!! Love your furry friend xx
Kristin, thanks for letting me know what your self care looks like :-) I like Jane Austen too...
Christie - the sea is so healing isn't it? I try to get there once a week, and would love to live closer :-)
Lorinda - thanks for stopping by - really lovely of you to leave a comment!!
